Hello Blogosphere,
I don’t have much time today, so I’ll make this quick. We now have six weeks to go until Ironman Arizona. Please don’t pay any attention to my countdown widget, which apparently wants to round-down to the nearest month mark. I think I’ve mentioned before that I don’t like how my countdown widget is short-changing me. We still have more than one month to go, countdown widget!
Anyway, this past week was a good training week for me. I did two swims (4,000 yards in the pool with drills & a 1.5-mile open water swim); two bike rides (36 miles easy, then 100 miles on Saturday); and two long runs (15 miles Wednesday and 16 miles Sunday). I should have done some shorter runs and a shorter swim as well, but I didn’t fit it in. Now, I am very happy for my rest day.
Craig did not have such a great week. He got a bad cold and had major work assignments to deal with (keeping him up late and cutting into his important sleep time). So, he only got in two workouts, but one of them was our 100-mile ride on Saturday. I think he is feeling much better now. So, hopefully, things will bounce back into place for him this week.
This coming weekend, we have a half-Ironman on the schedule (Waterman’s Half). Craig is not excited about it, as both his road bike and tri bike are in need of repair, and he isn’t sure which (if either) he will be able to ride. So, we’ll have to see how that goes. I’m not super-concerned about this race. I’m mainly doing it for the experience and to see how I feel going into our final month before IMAZ. Last year, this race was cold on the swim and into the bike, so it was going to be a good wake-up call for the cold waters of Tempe Town Lake. But this year, we are having a warm October. So, I’m not sure how similar the water temperature will be.
I’ll let you know what happens.
