So, today, I am standing on the side of the road, watching other people run. But it’s for a good reason. Two, actually. The main reason is because I am helping out at a Team in Training (TnT) event. TnT raises money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by training people to complete endurance events while fundraising for cancer treatment research. It’s a great organization. So, I’ve decided to volunteer with them this next year as part of my “year of giving back”. I was so blessed in 2013, so I want to return the favor, so to speak. I will be coaching TnT-ers later in 2014 and helping other coaches before that.
My other reason for standing around while other people run is because a couple weeks after returning from my Ironman, I got a stress fracture in my right foot while doing a 15k. I guess my body wanted a break after all that training. So, I am focusing on swimming right now – until my foot heals.
But there is good news also! I had my final, two-year post-donation check-up this week & all my results were good. My creatinine was especially good: 1.04. Sure, that’s high for a person with two kidneys. But it’s really good for an ookgirl like me! 🙂
It’s just another blessing in my already over-flowing cup.
You’ll find a whole new world of fun on the giving-side of things, Jenn. Looking forward to reading all about your adventures and perspectives. Love, Your Biggest Fan ~ Michelle
